About Me

Roberto Carlos Cruz Garcia was born in Guayama, Puerto Rico, and resides in Miami. He holds an MA in English Creative Writing Non-Fiction and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Ethical Leadership Higher Education. Roberto also has TEFL and TESOL certifications.

Roberto's love for telling stories began at a young age when he would create and act out stories with his action figures. His curiosity about the people around him and their behavior led him to pursue writing. He is inspired by authors such as Esmeralda Santiago, Abelardo Diaz Alfaro, David Sedaris, and Luis Pales Matos. Roberto's favorite genres are humor, personal stories, and memoirs exploring the human experience.

His favorite books include Naked by David Sedaris, Tun, Tun de Pasa y Griferia by Luis Pales Matos, Dreaming in Cuban by Cristina Garcia, and Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs.

Roberto's writing process involves starting with the end in mind and working towards that goal. One of his challenges as a writer is finding the right words in English, which is not his first language, to express his thoughts and ideas without losing his rhythm. His advice to aspiring writers is simple: start writing.
